The Badgers rallied with a pair of goals in the third period to beat the Bulldogs 2-1 and sweep the WCHA series in Duluth.
The Bulldogs begin a challenging climb back up the WCHA standings and Pairwise rankings by hosting a Wisconsin team that's ranked No. 1 in almost everything in NCAA Division I women's hockey.
The St. Louis Blues have traded 2020 Hobey Baker winner and former Bulldog Scott Perunovich to the New York Islanders. The Hibbing native was used sparringly in five seasons with St. Louis.

UMD received a verbal commitment this week from Marilou Grenier, a 17-year-old goaltender from Quebec who would turns 18 in January.

Ava MacLeod — a 17-year-old forward from Kelowna, British Columbia — has committed to the UMD women’s hockey program.
Minnesota Duluth will be without senior captain and top-line center Dominic James against North Dakota on Saturday at Amsoil Arena.
Bulldogs coach Scott Sandelin ruled junior center Jack Smith and freshman wing Max Plante as out for this weekend’s NCHC opening series against North Dakota at Amsoil Arena.
Defenseman Keith McInnis — an 18-year-old from Red Deer, Alberta — has verbally committed to the UMD men’s hockey program.
Defenseman John Stout of Minnetonka is no longer committed to the UMD men’s hockey program.
Minnesota Duluth coaches Scott Sandelin and Laura Schuler met with local reporters Wednesday at Amsoil Arena, as did Gabby Krause and Mary Kate O’Brien from the UMD women’s hockey team.
UMD senior forward Gabby Krause has gone from “out for the season” with an injury to done for her career. The 21-year-old announced her retirement from hockey on Thursday.
Bulldogs coach Scott Sandelin spoke Wednesday at Amsoil Arena ahead of UMD’s series against Stonehill this weekend at Amsoil Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. Friday and 6:07 p.m. Saturday.
Both of the Bulldogs teams are on the road this weekend with Scott Sandelin’s men’s program playing a nonconference series Friday and Saturday at UMass Lowell and Laura Schuler’s third-ranked women’s squad playing a WCHA series Saturday and Sunday at No. 1 Wisconsin.
After initially saying Sunday that freshman wing Max Plante would be out “a while” with an upper body injury, Minnesota Duluth men’s coach Scott Sandelin tossed out a more precise timeline on Wednesday.

UMD held off a late charge by the Pioneers in the third period to score the young program's biggest win of what has been a challenging season at times.
The Bulldogs were unable to hold a lead in the third period for the second game in a row, losing Friday in overtime to the Tommies, who had never beaten UMD or a top-five team in Division I.
Fourth-ranked UMD put a puck into its own net in the final minute to hand St. Thomas its first win over the Bulldogs in 15 games and first win over a top-five ranked team in Division I.
