The Bulldogs begin a challenging climb back up the WCHA standings and Pairwise rankings by hosting a Wisconsin team that's ranked No. 1 in almost everything in NCAA Division I women's hockey.
The St. Louis Blues have traded 2020 Hobey Baker winner and former Bulldog Scott Perunovich to the New York Islanders. The Hibbing native was used sparringly in five seasons with St. Louis.

Minnesota Duluth fell behind 2-0 before getting on the scoreboard. UMD dropped back into a tie for sixth in the NCHC, missing out on moving into the top four.

Because he appeared in one exhibition game in a Slovakian pro league in 2020-21, Minnesota Duluth freshman goaltender Adam Gajan has to sit out Saturday’s season opener against Bemidji State at Amsoil Arena in Duluth.

Boston Bruins draft pick Cole Spicer of Warroad told the Duluth News Tribune in July he was done playing hockey “for the foreseeable future,” and would not play for the Bulldogs in 2024-25. The foreseeable future turned out to end on Friday, Sept. 14, 2024, when he suited up for the United States Hockey League’s Dubuque Fighting Saints in a preseason game against the Chicago Steel in Geneva, Illinois.

Brooke Gnetz — the twin sister of Alaina Gnetz — announced her commitment to the Bulldogs on Tuesday, just days after Alaina made her announcement.
Alaina Gnetz of Woodbury, Minnesota, announced her commitment to the Bulldogs on Sunday, making her the first commitment of the Laura Schuler era at UMD.
The Bulldogs have made a late acquisition from the NCAA's transfer portal, adding St. Cloud State defenseman Devyn Millwater to the 2024-25 roster. She'll be a senior at UMD in the fall.

UMD held off a late charge by the Pioneers in the third period to score the young program's biggest win of what has been a challenging season at times.
The Bulldogs were unable to hold a lead in the third period for the second game in a row, losing Friday in overtime to the Tommies, who had never beaten UMD or a top-five team in Division I.
Fourth-ranked UMD put a puck into its own net in the final minute to hand St. Thomas its first win over the Bulldogs in 15 games and first win over a top-five ranked team in Division I.
