I propose people share letters of public appreciation on the News Tribune Opinion page, either for past achievements or current ones.
It might mean naming some early participants or groups who contributed to a meaningful result. Quick examples include Spirit Mountain, the Marine Museum, historic railroads, the arena-auditorium, the University of Wisconsin-Superior, and the University of Minnesota Duluth. There are hundreds more in Duluth and the Northland.

It would be a way to remind us all of our well-used and well-valued places, facilities, and services, as well as those thousands of things we use and value that make this a place of endless value.
And yes, it’s intended to remind us that these things began by someone who realized a need and did something about that need.
Public appreciation can go a long way and can inspire others to initiate something that ends up as an important public benefit for others.
