Reader's View: Every baby is a blessing

There will always be someone in your life who cares about you and thinks you are special.

Hi, I’m Wynnie. I’m new to Duluth. I was born at St. Luke’s hospital just before Thanksgiving, so my name tag had a turkey on it. I am 2 months old now, so I know a few things.

A year ago, my daddy went down to the state Capitol. A lot of people gathered there for the March for Life. My daddy helped the people see models of babies the same size as me at different stages. The models were lifelike but not as cute as me, Daddy says. Daddy says I have to be older before he will tell me why there were 12,000 of these models, but he says it’s a sad reason and a baby should be happy.

Something very exciting happened while Daddy was in St. Paul. While there, he thought about how precious each baby was. Then he asked God to give him and Mommy one. God sent me along about a month later. So here I am. I get to share this exciting life with all of you.

Daddy says becoming a daddy required faith and some hard work, but it has given him a powerful sense of purpose. Part of him and part of Mommy are now in me! I think if you can have a baby like me, you are blessed. There will always be someone in your life who cares about you and thinks you are special.

Mommy and Daddy say it’s time for me to get a bath, so I have to go, but don’t forget to be kind to the babies like me, and we will make sure to give you lots of smiles! Love, Wynnie.
