DULUTH — From s’mores to sledding and hayrides to hammerschlagen, Saturday was a celebration of winter at Bayfront Festival Park, even though it didn’t quite look like winter.
Duluth Parks and Recreation hosted the eighth-annual Cold Front event. While temperatures were in the low 20s, it didn’t have the usual white winter look, with visible grass in some spots on the park grounds. However, as the event went on, Mother Nature assisted with the visuals as snow started to fall in the afternoon.

The free, family-friendly festival went from 12-6 p.m. and featured a variety of fun outdoor activities and attractions such as s’mores, sledding, skating, curling, bonfires, hayrides, cornhole, ax throwing and more.
One activity that was planned but canceled was dogsled rides, due to a lack of snow.
