Photos and video: Despite warm temps, Cold Front attracts a crowd
The seventh annual winter event at Bayfront Festival Park featured family-friendly activities such as sledding and s'mores, and even a little snow.

DULUTH — Most years when Duluth Parks and Recreation has hosted the Cold Front festival in Bayfront Festival Park, "Mother Nature" coated the grounds with plenty of snow. However, for the seventh annual event, some transported snow was needed.
Despite the warmer-than-usual temps, which were in the upper 30s, the family-friendly gathering included a busy schedule of events and activities Saturday between noon and 6 p.m.

According to Duluth Parks and Recreation specialist Megan Lidd, it took crews multiple days to assemble the transported snow. While youth dog sled rides and Nordic skiing were canceled, visitors still had a chance to participate in activities such as sledding, ice skating, tractor rides, winter safety games, adult snowshoe kickball, golf, kids dance party, fat bike demos and take in fat bike demonstrations, watch fire spinners and more. Duluth mayor Roger Reinert was on hand for "S’mores with the Mayor" as visitors could converse with him. The new mayor even took part in the some of the activities, including sledding.

Hoops Brewery was also part of the festivities with buy one, get one coupons given out at Bayfront Festival Park as well as music at the brewery with Vinyl Sightings.
