DULUTH — Proctor/Hermantown claimed a 5-2 victory over Duluth in a special outdoor girls hockey game played at the Woodland Rink on Saturday night in Duluth.
The Northern Stars wore special uniforms in recognition of the 30th anniversary of the Duluth Icebreakers girls hockey program.

BOYS HOCKEY
Eden Prairie 4, Hibbing/Chisholm 3
Jace Kampsula scored first and last, but it was Eden Prairie who came away winners in the leadoff game of Hockey Day Minnesota 2025 on Saturday morning in Shakopee.
Kampsula’s power-play goal put the Bluejackets up 1-0 in the first period, but Eden Prairie had the next three goals, two of them by Chase Klute.
Andrew Sundquist pulled Hibbing/Chisholm back within a goal in the third period, but Adam Thomas recorded a key insurance tally before Kampsula’s second goal of the game, with 2:36 to play.
Rex Walli made 21 saves for Hibbing/Chisholm (12-8).
Duluth Denfeld 7, Brainerd 0
Goaltender Liam Fish recorded 20 saves as the Hunters rolled past the Warriors on Saturday at Essentia Health Sports Center in Brainerd.
Nolan Harju and Alexander Udd scored two goals apiece, with Harju adding three assists for a five-point outing. Brady Wick had a three-assist game, while John Scott finished with a goal and two helpers.

Denfeld, which went 3-for-5 on the power play, is above the .500 mark for the first time all season at 9-8 overall.
Hermantown 4, Mahtomedi 0
The Hawks came out strong early, bagging three goals in the first period of a shutout victory at home on Saturday.
Charlie Marchand, River Freeman and Alexander Nicklin struck in succession for the Hawks, and that was more than enough offense to support goalie Bryce Francisco and his 24 saves.
Cam Lukovsky added a late goal for Hermantown (13-5-3).
Holy Family 7, Duluth East 4
East went to the third period on Saturday at the Essentia Duluth Heritage Center with a chance to bust a long losing streak, but the visiting Fire put the game away with three goals in the first half of the third period.
Fin Kuzmuk scored twice for the Greyhounds. His second goal made it 6-3 Holy Family with 3:22 left, and Timothy Balthazor followed with another goal 1:36 later, but Holy Family finished the game with an empty-netter.
Nolan Nygard made 27 saves and Caden Cole had a pair of assists for East (2-18).

Duluth Marshall 8, Princeton 5
Layton Anderson and David Schacte had two goals apiece as the Hilltoppers came out on top in a wide-open contest at Princeton on Saturday.
Marshall pumped 56 shots on the Princeton net but found itself down 2-0 nine minutes into the first period before Schachte’s power play goal started a run of six consecutive goals for the visitors, including four in a seven-minute span to start the second period.
Princeton cut the deficit from 6-2 to 6-4 but Owen Marsolek and Kyler Black scored in the third period to finish off the win.
Black scored and had three assists for Marshall, while Marsolek accompanied his goal with two assists.
Landon Wheeler made 25 saves for Marshall (10-7-2).
Proctor 4, Tartan 0
Austin Bryant had a natural hat trick with two shorthanded goals as the Rails rolled to victory at Aspirus St. Luke’s Sports and Event Center in Proctor on Saturday.
The senior forward has 36 previous varsity goals over three seasons, but Saturday’s was his first hat trick.

William Pocrnich made 11 saves for the shutout for Proctor (9-9-1). Tanner Ross and Caleb Lanthier had two assists each.
St. Thomas Academy 4, Grand Rapids 0
The Thunderhawks couldn’t get any of their 18 shots past Cadets goalie Cody Niesen on Saturday in Mendota Heights, Minnesota.
Cole Braunshausen finished with two goals and an assist for St. Thomas Academy, the No. 2-ranked Class AA team in the most recent state rankings.
Mora/Milaca 3, Greenway 2 (OT)
The Raiders had a two-goal lead with eight minutes to play, but Charlie Kritzeck’s shorthanded goal started a comeback for Mora/Milaca and Ty Stanchfield ended it with an overtime game-winner on Saturday at Hodgins-Berardo Arena in Coleraine.
Brayden Nielsen scored in the first period and Evan Woodman in the second for Greenway (6-10-1). Zane Schad made 27 saves.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Ely 63, Moose Lake/Willow River 46
The Rebels’ offense dried up in the second half and took their four-game winning streak with it, as Ely held MLWR to only 12 second-half points.
Madison Wasche scored 22 to lead Moose Lake/Willow River, which fell to 7-8.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Esko 69, Maple River 61 (OT)
Esko got locked into a defensive struggle in regulation but opened up the offense in overtime, outscoring the visitors 14-6 in the extra session for a win on Saturday, Jan. 25.
Sam Haugen drilled seven 3-pointers for Esko (12-4) and had a game-high 27 points. Graham Hartlieb aed 13 and Jackson Peterson 12.
Cherry 86, Minneapolis North 66
A triple-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists from Carson Brown set up the Tigers for success in a game at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis.
Noah Sundquist led Cherry’s scorers with 29, while Isaiah Asuma kicked in 17 points and eight boards.
Cherry (19-0) and still ranked No. 1 in the state in Class A, has now won 45 consecutive games.
Two Harbors 72, International Falls 40
Eighteen different Agates scored at least one point in a home win over the Broncos on Saturday.
The game wasn’t a total blowout, as Two Harbors led 34-23 at halftime before building on its lead after the break. Jimmy Reinarz (12 points) was the only Two Harbors (7-10) player to score in double figures.

Blake 85, Hibbing 79 (OT)
Ray Brau scored 24 points and Adam Reckmeyer 17 but the Bluejackets ended up on the short end of an overtime game at Blake School on Saturday in Minneapolis.
Hibbing (10-6) also got 15 points from Lucas Arnhold.
