Three Bulldogs named to Canadian women’s development team

Minnesota Duluth goaltender Eve Gascon, defenseman Tova Henderson and forward Caitlin Kraemer will play for Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Development Team at the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour from Dec. 11-15 in Tampere, Finland.

This is the second time Gascon and Kraemer will play for the Canadian development team this year after taking part in a three-game series against the United States in August. Henderson is a new addition to the development squad.
Canada and the United States are both participating in the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour for the first time, however, both are sending development teams to compete against senior national teams from Finland, Switzerland, Czechia and Sweden.

The Women’s Euro Hockey Tour consists of four tournaments held in Switzerland, Sweden, Finland and Czechia. Switzerland, Finland and Czechia are part of all four tournaments while Sweden will miss the last event due to Olympic qualifying. Czechia has won the first two round-robin tournaments.

The upcoming tournament in Finland, featuring the U.S. and Canada, is being billed as a six-nations tournament. It will feature a group stage, followed by a placement stage, giving teams three games each.

No Bulldogs were named to the U.S. Collegiate Women’s Select Team for the December Euro Tour tournament.

A total of 30 WCHA players were named to the Canadian and American teams, including former Bulldogs goaltender Hailey MacLeod, who will reunite with Gascon on the Canadian squad.
