Lloyd Eugene Wagner

Lloyd Eugene Wagner passed away January 19, 2025 at the age of 72 in Thakhek, Laos after a series of strokes last year.

Lloyd was born to Wilmer and Evelyn Wagner in Duluth, MN on September 12, 1952, the firstborn of three children. Growing up in a rural home, he was raised in an environment that appreciated hard work.

Lloyd graduated from Hermantown High School in 1970 and later earned a master’s degree in English literature from UMD. Lloyd served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War where he translated Chinese tapes and enemy communications.

A self-employed Market Gardener and Income Tax Preparer from Twig, Minnesota, 1976-2004, he also drove school bus for Hermantown schools. From 2005-2012 he was an English Teacher in Thakhek, Khammouane, Lao PDR. He moved to Thailand in 2013 where he became a Lecturer in the English Department at Nakhon Phanom University till 2022 when he returned to Laos to serve as a Volunteer teacher at Khamasavath College, Thakhek.

Lloyd’s friends and family fondly remember his incredible accurate memory and ability to tell stories embellished with that great sense of humor he had.

He is survived by his daughter Sandy, three grandsons---Devon, Taylor and Raven—a grand-daughter Alexandria, great granddaughter Lilianna and his sisters Nancy and Susie. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and his son Rob.
