AURORA — A woman is suspected of arson after a call to a structure fire in Aurora on Friday afternoon.

According to a news release, the Aurora Fire Department and East Range Police Department were dispatched at 3:45 p.m. to the Irongate Apartments and Townhomes on the 300 block of East Fourth Avenue North. Crews arrived to find the bedroom of a townhome fully engulfed and the fire was spreading to additional rooms.

Though the townhome sustained fire and smoke damage, crews contained the fire from spreading to neighboring units and no injuries were reported.

A 35-year-old woman was taken into custody by the police pending arson charges. The News Tribune does not typically name suspects until they have been charged.

The State Fire Marshal was on scene and investigated.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
