DULUTH — As the calendar switches to 2025, the News Tribune reflects on some of the highlights and memorable moments in the Northland during 2024.
Digital producers Wyatt Buckner and Dan Williamson, as well as photojournalist Clint Austin, have assembled more than 170 videos for our online coverage during the year. While piecing together some of them into an overview video, they had a chance to reflect on their favorite videos they produced in 2024.

For Wyatt Buckner, venturing down over 2,000 miles in the Soudan Underground Mine was one of the most memorable stories he has worked on not just in 2024 but his entire career. He greatly enjoyed piecing together a video that both shared the history of the mine and recreated the experience of traveling underground.

For Dan Williamson, seeing ice climbing up close was a first-time experience. In January, about a dozen College of St. Scholastica students and staff members with the college's Outdoor Pursuit program scaled a large ice wall in Duluth's Quarry Park.
