The Twins still have yet to make major changes to their roster this offseason, but they’ve been busy reshaping the leadership of the organization off the field.
It started with the departure of general manager Thad Levine in October, then longtime president and CEO Dave St. Peter stepped into an advisory role, and president of baseball operations Derek Falvey took over as president. The Twins promoted assistant general manager Jeremy Zoll to Levine’s old role.

And, on Tuesday, the Twins announced three more promotions, elevating Alex Hassan, Sean Johnson and Josh Kalk to assistant general manager positions.
“Alex, Sean and Josh have played an integral role in shaping the success of our organization and we are eager to see their continued growth in these expanded capacities,” Falvey said in a release. “Their work has been pivotal in building a strong major league roster and one of the top farm systems in the game. Their individual expertise and dedication are essential to achieving our goals as a team.”
Johnson, who is in his 24th season with the Twins, has been serving as the team’s vice president of amateur scouting. He will continue to lead that department and the draft while also developing the organization’s amateur scouting philosophies.
Hassan, who has been working as the organization’s vice president of hitting development and acquisitions for the past couple of seasons and was previously the Twins’ farm director, will now work more with the major league team, while also continuing to work on the player development side. He will also remain involved in acquiring offensive talent.
And Kalk, who has most recently served as the team’s vice president of baseball operations strategy and innovation, will continue to work closely with the coaching staff, lead the advance scouting team and advise on baseball strategy, integrating input from the baseball research and development staff.
“Their unique skill sets, innovative approaches and dedication to player development, scouting and strategy make them invaluable to our organization,” Zoll said in a release. “I’m excited to see the impact they’ll continue to have.”
