Political parties have different viewpoints on issues, which is normal and understandable. However, they should not vary substantially on judging a candidate’s character or ability to make sound decisions. In listening to newscaster interviews of opinions and beliefs from the voting public, it has become very clear to me that supporters of President Donald Trump seem to be in lockstep with an Archie Bunker mentality.
Trump voters apparently did not care or did not want to believe that Trump is a convicted felon and the convictions were both civil and criminal, that he is and always will be a sex offender, and that he bragged about his exploits.

They just didn’t care or want to believe he was proven a consummate liar; he was not at the top of his graduating class; and he seemingly would sue anyone, disclosing his actual standing. He had a $25 million judgment against him for operating a bogus university. He faced multiple lawsuits for nonpayments to creditors. His business record included six bankruptcies, and yet he wanted to run (or is that ruin) the country. He promised to release his tax records but reneged, and he illegally took money from his own charity.
Supporters just didn’t care or want to believe that he lacked the intelligence to know digesting a poison would not be a cure for COVID-19, that nuking a hurricane would be insane, and that mocking the disabled is abominable. He approved of separating children from their parents; said some neo-Nazis were OK; and was the only president to not peacefully turn over power, leading to needless deaths.
In comparing presidents for their service to the country during their presidency and afterward, President Jimmy Carter was a Mother Theresa — while Trump was a Houdini, the escape artist.
