Quiet, mostly sunny Friday, with rain chances starting Saturday night

Those scattered rain chances will last through the latter half of the weekend and well into the next workweek.

Another pleasant day across the Duluth area, with mainly sunny skies expected for Friday. Easterly winds at 5-10 mph will keep lakeside spots a bit cooler, with temperatures only topping out in the upper 60s. On Friday night we will see partly cloudy skies as temperatures cool to near 50 degrees.

Saturday will then start dry and mostly cloudy, but as we head through the day, skies will turn increasingly overcast, with east-southeast winds at 10-15 mph. Rain chances begin later in the day, with better chances for more scattered to even widespread rain arriving Saturday night.

There will be a more active pattern across the region for Father's Day and beyond. That will mean round after round of precipitation chances. Not a washout rain for any given day, but scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible Sunday through much of next week. A couple of those storms could be slightly on the stronger side at times, but it remains too early to iron out any details yet. Otherwise, temperatures look to trend in the lower 70s.

Growing up in southern Wisconsin, my love of all things weather started at the age of 5, fascinated by storms rolling in during summer and blizzards blowing through in winter. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in May 2023, having worked with the university's unique Innovative Weather operational forecasting program as well from 2021 through 2024. I moved to Fargo to start here at WDAY in May 2024.
