Hill-Murray 4, Grand Rapids 0

The Thunderhawks’ southbound road trip ended unsuccessfully on Saturday at Aldrich Arena, as the Pioneers turned a territorial advantage into a scoring one as the game went on.

Hill-Murray, ranked No. 3 in Class AA, outshot Rapids, ranked No. 10, 46-21 for the game but led only 1-0 after two periods before scoring three times in the third.

Grayson Hanggi had the shutout in the Pioneers' goal, while Carter Casey made 42 saves for Rapids (12-5).

Hermantown 3, Shakopee 2 (OT)

The Hawks found themselves playing from behind most of the way on Saturday at Hermantown Arena but figured it out just in time, with Charlie Marchand scoring a game-winning goal late in overtime.

Marchand scored the game-winner with 58 seconds left in OT.

Jack Marshall and Liam Fish split time in the Denfeld net, making six saves apiece. The Hunters (8-8) are back at the .500 mark for the first time all season after starting 0-6.

St. Paul Johnson 2, Greenway 2 (OT)

The Raiders couldn’t quite make first-period goals from Hayden Clow and Damien Mandich hold up, as the visiting Governors rallied late to force a tie on Saturday at Hodgins-Berardo Arena in Coleraine.

Greenway got its goals about five minutes apart in the first period, and after Johnson cut the lead in half late in the period, it remained a one goal game for more than 30 minutes until Isaiah Henderson scored his second goal of the game with 3:13 to play.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
