Tempers flared in the final minute of Esko’s win over Pequot Lakes on Monday, as both teams received at least one technical foul during the course of a season-altering game.
Esko held Pequot Lakes to just one scoring drive in the first half, which helped set up Esko’s eventual 34-14 win and its third consecutive trip to the Class AAA state tournament.
The Esko football team, which went into Friday night as the No. 3-ranked team in Class AAA, thrashed Pequot Lakes 60-0, a team that went into the contest as the No. 5-ranked team in the same class.
The Eskomos and Hunters have looked like the best two teams in the area through three games, while Two Harbors, Hermantown and Northwestern suffered setbacks.
