Northland Outdoors Forecast: Accumulating Snow moves through the region

The snow shovel may need to come out as fresh snow is in the forecast.

As we head into the weekend, we turn our sights on snow chances for the region. The snow will come in from the northwest, and sweep into North Dakota Friday night into Saturday morning.

Exact amounts in North Dakota are too early to tell, but a couple of inches of snow is certainly in play. The good news with this system is that there won't be too much wind. By Saturday afternoon winds will be around 5-15mph as snow continues to fall and spread into Minnesota by the afternoon.

Snow will start to pick up in Minnesota as the afternoon goes on. Prepare extra time for travel if you plan on taking roads such as I-94 and Highway 2, as snow can make the travel slick at times. Much like North Dakota, a few inches of snow are possible in the central part of Minnesota.
Temperatures will be seasonal, so going out to enjoy the snow won't be too terrible chilly.

The majority of the snow moves out of the Dakotas Saturday night into Sunday morning. Minnesota will still deal with falling snow throughout the day, but will see it diminishing into the evening. A slight breeze in the central and southern parts of Minnesota may allow for some snow to blow around onto the roads. Temperatures will be similar to Saturday as well.

By Sunday night the snow looks to clear out of the region, save for a couple snow showers in Wisconsin. Again, its still too early to know exactly how much and where the heaviest snow will fall, so stay tuned to the latest forecast as the weekend gets closer.
