Nancy Vogt is editor of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal, covering eight communities in the Pequot Lakes-Pine River areas - from Nisswa to Hackensack and Pequot Lakes to Crosslake. She reports on Pequot Lakes, Nisswa, Lake Shore and Crosslake city council meetings, but with a small staff, reporters overlap and can all be found in and out of the communities the Echo Journal reports on.
She also writes a personal column called Vogt's Notes where you can learn more about her daily life adventures (She likes to think people can relate to what she writes about). She also writes educational columns where you can learn more about the ever-changing world of newspapers in this digital age.
She's been a journalist for nearly 35 years, graduating in December 1987 from what was then called Moorhead State University with a degree in print journalism. (Yep, that dates her! No such thing as "multimedia journalist" back then - just print, broadcast or public relations.)
She started her career as a reporter and then copy editor/page designer for the Owatonna People's Press (where she met her husband) before joining the Brainerd Dispatch in 1992 as a reporter, then a copy editor and page designer.
She became editor of the Lake Country Echo in Pequot Lakes in July 2006. That newspaper merged with the Pine River Journal in 2013 to become the Echo Journal (with no city in our name - that causes confusion!).
