Matthew Carter

Matthew Carter age 98, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on November 13, 2024. He was born in Laurel, MS to parents, John Carter and Cleo Harrison. He was a chief cook seaman, working on various ore boats for US Steel. He was a long-time member of St. Michael’s Catholic church and a staple of the Lakeside community. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; siblings, Woodrow Carter, Cletora Evege, and Bernice Brown. He is survived by his children, Anthony, William, and Kai; grandchildren, Sheneall, Mario, Celia, Ava; great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Markus, and Rylee; many extended family and friends, especially Jean and Dan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 22nd at 11:30 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 4901 E Superior St, Duluth, MN 55804. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. To sign the online guestbook visit dfhduluth.com
