Macklin Caruso joined the Cloquet Pine Journal in 2023. Prior to reporting for the Pine Journal, Macklin worked as a reporter for a community newspaper in New London, Minnesota. He also worked as a freelance journalist, as well as in marketing and public relations.

Macklin grew up primarily in Minnesota. He attended St. Cloud State University, where he graduated with a degree in mass communications with an emphasis in journalism.

In his free time, Macklin has developed an unhealthy relationship with baking, having proofed bread in the car while on the road on multiple occasions. He also enjoys exploring the northwoods and scouring record stores for old George Jones LPs.
