Jarrid Houston of South Range is a fishing guide ( houstonsguideservice.com ) on Minnesota and Wisconsin inland waters, the St. Louis River and, in winter, on Lake Superior.

If you do brave the elements, I would stick to the regular jig and minnow tactics for a mix of crappies, smallies and walleyes.
Fishing has remained on the slower side, but that is mostly on account of the adverse weather.
Lake Superior anglers have also been grinding out the smallmouth and pike bite in Chequamegon Bay.
Walleyes can still be caught in the 8-14 feet of water working slow-twitch jigging cadences.
The bite has been so-so, based on reports.
The next two weeks' fishing should be very good, especially for the cold-water biters.
This is a super busy time of year, but here we are.
One tip I can share: If the fishing is slow and you hook up, take your time reeling in, as you can get more fish to react.
Anglers are having success with lake trout on North Shore and South Shore.
It won't be long until most salmon will be doing the annual river runs.
