13 former Bulldogs make final PWHL rosters

The inaugural season of the Professional Women’s Hockey League will include 13 former members of the UMD women’s hockey program. Only Wisconsin has more alumnae in the PWHL this year with 16. Minnesota is third with 12.

One of the 13 former Bulldogs, Minnesota’s Sydney Brodt, is on long term injured reserve to start the season after suffering a lower body injury during evaluation camps in Utica, New York, this month.

Two former Bulldogs went undrafted but still made a roster as a camp invitee with Maddie Rooney being one of five UMD alumni playing for Minnesota and Catherine Daoust landing with Montreal.

Sidney Morin was drafted by Minnesota, but was one of three draft picks to switch teams. Morin joins Jess Healey and Emma Soderberg in Boston.

Of the 13 former Bulldogs in the PWHL, 12 played for Bulldogs coach Maura Crowell over the previous eight seasons.
